That is beautiful scenery. Take the safest route. With poor shoulders on the road, I would walk on the left facing traffic.

Right on, Cathleen in NH. It’s better to see the cars coming at you than to have them barreling behind you, unseen.

The vast majority of the time I would agree with both of you. However in this case we chose the right side. On the left there was literally no shoulder, plus it was going around a steep curve so an oncoming car whizzing around wouldn’t see us until it was right on top of us. I will say though, that it was weird to have cars passing by us on the left. Unfortunately there was no really good choice.
