After living in Phoenix for a few years, I know exactly what the rain lady was talking about. You get so used to the air being hot and dry, then it rains and it feels like the first day of spring. Everything is cool, and the air smells so good. Mmm, moisture.

Talking on Sunday (8.17.08) to my mother in (dry) SE Colorado, she reported that they’d had 3″ of rain last week. And those weeds that she thought she’d gotten rid of, but who, in actuality, had been hibernating, grew like…well…weeds! I love the smell of wet dirt as the rain is first sprinkling down on it.
Growing up in the swamp lands of Indiana, Will, you can’t fully appreciate the blessing that rain brings to a parched land.
