police state indeed. i doubt will, that you were surprised that you attracted the attention of the freedom stealers.

the founding fathers (of freemason/jesuit origin) drafted a constitution and promulgated laws favoring their agenda. only later did they concede to the bill of rights. (as you may all know already).

i am considering a walk across the southern tier. i would enjoy any comments from anyone regarding planning, pitfalls, gear, reasons for sponsors, reasons against, an rv v. local hospitality, overt calls for freedom from interference v. subtle suggestions while on the walk.

what mindset of general populace has will found in 2008?

i hitchhiked AROUND not across 'turtle island' (what the euros renamed 'america'). that journey of mine encompassed most of the 70s.

i accept much of the work of david icke who calls out the global governments and corporations as destructive to humanity as part of a ten thousand year or more program of control and manipulation.
leonard horowitz has also identified part of the agenda as genociding 80 percent or more of the present population on the planet. you may all be familiar with alex jones and his works to flush out those who seek to limit the species.

today is the first time i have known of mr. buchanan's walk. may goodness protect him along the remainder of his walk.

my intention is to do the southern tier in 4 months. the miles are fewer than the northern path. obviously mine will be a winter program.

i do not anticipate problems with the police as they and i already know they are serving the BEAST. and my 'truck' is not with the agents, rather i seek as does mr. icke and mr. jones to alert folks to AGENDA KEEPERS (ala bilderbers, oil barons, and oval office terrorists). i am impressed with how many younger citizens know of the issues at hand.

bless all who seek to liberate mankind from the 'nasties'. may we liberate the people of earth from any and all repression at least a bit more each day... i embrace 2012 as the potential end of all this static imposed on us. and will do my part in my way to advance human freedom.

Maybe Myq could tell us about the times HE was surrounded by armed men and threatened with abduction and did everything right.

By the way, I learned this line of logic (We can't believe your argument until you live it) at FreeDomainRadio.com.

yes Will, it is a police-state prison-planet global-gulag...although almost all of the mobocracy looter minions continue to deny that it exists...as they enjoy just one more day of loot and booty stolen and robbed by bureaucrats, jackboots, and mercenaries from those still "producing"...

keep up the great work and perhaps you'll make it to the Gulch someday...

Sincerely,
John and Dagny Galt

Hey Will,

I heard you on Free Talk Live earlier this evening. I think what you're doing is great, but I must say, you handled this situation very badly.

I know that as you said yourself, if you could do this again, you would do certain things differently, such as asking more questions and possibly even calling the officer's bluff to arrest you. However, even those courses of action are granting far more courtesy to the officers than is either necessary or prudent.

You are not required to answer any of the officer's questions, except possibly (depending on the state; I'm not sure about Indana) telling him your name and address. However, even in such cases, you are usually not required by law to produce physical ID while walking down the street, or to prove that you're not carrying any ID.***

The terry pat that the officer conducted was legal. Officers are usually allowed to gently pat down the outside of your clothes as a quick check for weapons (and if you're carrying any, they can ask you to place them on the ground for the duration of your encounter with the officers). However, they are NOT allowed to search you in any capacity beyond the terry pat without your consent or probable cause. Importantly, you were NOT required to show them your Pocket PC (or wallet, if you'd had one), or even tell them whether or not you were carrying one.

Most importantly to remember is this: Cops are allowed to lie to you! And they will, constantly. Statements like "If I have to take out this pad one more time, I'll arrest you!" are not examples of cops losing their cool. They are calculated attempts to intimidate you into compliance and into waiving your rights. Even if you ask them, cops are usually NOT required to tell the truth about what your rights are and what they are allowed to require of you.

No matter what the cop tells you or asks you (other than your name & address, in states where "Stop and Identify" laws require you to answer), you should respond with a question of your own: "Am I free to go, officer?" or "Am I being detained, officer?" If the cops have enough evidence to arrest or charge you, then they will do so no matter what you say. And if they don't, then they cannot detain you. And let them know explicitly that you DO NOT consent to any searches.

Moreover, if you are not sure whether or not your compliance is required by law, rather than asking the officer to tell you the law (remember that cops are allowed to lie to you about that!), simply ask them "Am I free to go?" to test for yourself the officer's confidence in his ability to hold you.

If you or your readers are interested, there is a great video (viewable for free online) which explains in much more detail how to exercise your rights in these situations. It's been mentioned on Free Talk Live a few times, and it is called "Busted: The Citizen's Guide to Surviving Police Encounters". You can watch it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqMjMPlXzdA

I wish you the best of luck on the remainder of your journey, and hope that I'll be able to join you in moving to New Hampshire some time in the near future.

***edit: I looked it up, and in Indiana (under IC 34-28-5-3.5), cops are allowed to ask for your name, address, and date of birth, but nothing more. Also, it appears that Indiana actually requires you to show your driver's license, if you have one. However, you are NOT required to have one or carry it with you, and they definitely CANNOT search you without your consent just to verify that you are not carrying a driver's license.

A Ridley Report on this is now edited , airs tomorrow. every time they threaten us they give us a better story...and this one comes at a perfect time since it's a slow news week. Good job taking one for the cause Will. But it will also get you new subscribers.
