December 10th 2008, day 210 / Sculptures / Entering Vermont / Bennington, VT / Why is it almost universally accepted that govt should be responsible for trash collection? / Insidious spreading of govt programs like a virus / Does govt need to be in charge of trash? / It’s just a service and there’s nothing really special about it / Companies competing have an incentive to do a better job and keep their prices lower / Govt is not incentivized to do a good job if it’s the only game in town / So called “privatization”, where the govt picks one company to handle it, is really no better than just the govt itself doing it, because it’s still a monopoly / A real-world example of competing garbage collection companies - Keene, New Hampshire / Original reason for govt trash collection - somebody complaining about a neighbor throwing garbage on his lawn in the night lobbying govt to take over trash collection so he’s no longer “incentivized” to do that? / If that was the case, it’s just a private property rights violation and should have been dealt with that way, instead of violating everyone’s right to their own free choice / The bad actions of a few are not an excuse to impose government force on all / People should be responsible for their own trash disposal / 17.73 miles for liberty / http://SubYT.WalkForLiberty.com Click to subscribe to my YouTube channel / Safety belts required by Vermont Govt for E.T.? / RV almost getting stuck

December 9th 2008, day 209 / Cohoes, NY / Crossing against a red light in front of a Dept of Public Works guy - what if he tried to give you a ticket? / Why do people think a cop has authority to give them a ticket, but not a dept of public works guy? / Is it because cops have a gun? / No, because criminals have guns, and you don’t think they have authority / Criminals will eventually get stopped by somebody / Why don’t cops get stopped for persecuting people committing victimless crimes? / To have an aura of authority, the person must think they have authority, and everyone else must as well / Someone thinking they have authority but everyone else doesn’t is like the rogue DPW guy, or perhaps a thief / Everyone else thinking someone has authority, but that person doesn’t is a case of mistaken identity, but they can grow into the role / Person thinking they have authority, and everyone else believing that they do too, like with cops today / The only reason it matters that cops and other people in positions of power think they have authority, is that everyone else believes it / Cops not being respected as much in other countries / The difference between an organized gang of criminals, and government, is just the perception of authority / Organized gangs are easier to fight than govt because they’re not seen as legitimate / If you fight govt, almost everyone will be opposed to you / If you take down someone in govt, you’ll definitely be hunted down / Only way to break down the state is thru education, by showing people it has no authority and is not legitimate / Educating thru media or thru civil disobedience to show them govt is just a tool of violence that hurts people who haven’t hurt anyone / Showing people that govt is an illusion / 20.32 miles for liberty / http://Amazon.WalkForLiberty.com / Gurley-Manlius Ave?

December 7th 2008, day 207 / Frozen Erie Canal Lock 9 / 100 miles from New Hampshire / Walked 3000 miles for liberty / DividedWeFail organization / Wanting to unite the Democrats and Republicans in order to pass more laws? / Laws restrict, not secure freedom / They presumably see govt as a force for doing good, so are therefore frustrated with gridlock in govt? / Govt can’t do good, only individuals and organizations operating voluntarily can / Republicans and Democrats uniting would bring the worst big govt aspects of each due to the fact that they’re compromising, and govt would grow to a ridiculous size / Barring allowing people to keep all their money and living their lives the way they choose, the next best thing is gridlock / Voting for opposite parties for president and congress / Gridlock is good / 16.44 miles for liberty / http://ArrivalPlans.WalkForLiberty.com / Jake running after fake dog / Sticking camera
